When submitting urls with the tilde character, I'm getting the "url is not valid" message. Here's an example:
http://www.skidmore.edu/~pdwyer/amc/align.htm
When I check the url myself, it returns a 200 code, but vba won't accept it. I had noticed this on 1.0.0, and just upgraded to 1.0.1, but the error still occurs.

How exactly is it not accepting it? Is it saying it's not a valid URL, or what exactly?

It displays the following error:
"The URL you entered is not valid. Please make sure that you have entered a valid URL."

Correction -- I had noticed this error with tilde urls, however, I have just been testing it with other tilde urls, and they are being accepted. Not sure what's triggering the invalid url error.

I tried the same URL you posted and it worked fine for me. Are the sites you're testing with perhaps having some problems when you're trying to submit them?

Just tested that url again from this end. The page comes up fine in my browser, but when I submit it through addlink.php, I'm still getting that same error. Perhaps there is some setting on my server that is affecting the way fsockopen is working?
Other skidmore.edu urls are also giving me the same error when I try to add them via addlink.php. For example, http://www.skidmore.edu/index.htm comes up fine in my browser, but causes that same error when submitted through addlink.php
Can you test it from my links submission page to confirm? It's at: http://www.hotrodders.com/links/addlink.php .

Yup, it gave me the same error when trying to submit the link. I tried submitting a link to vba.com though and it worked fine. It may be more of a problem with your server communicating to server that you're adding the link to. If that is the case then unfortunatly your only option for now would be to turn off the validation option. Or if you'd like, you can submit a support ticket via the Members' Area here and I'll be glad to take a look and make sure there's not another easy solution.

Thanks for helping troubleshoot this Brian. Definitely some sort of conflict between hotrodders.com and skidmore.edu, as I tried to use wget, links, and curl from the command line on my server to view some skidmore pages, and couldn't access them. I'll just turn off link validation temporarily, and enter the link.
