I have it installed and working but when I save a change such as even just going into Edit Module and just clicking save my whole index dissappears? If I disable the module the page comes back! any ideas.

Interesting, I tried to install phpnuke and the same issue occured.
modules were having issues. Would this be a regestered globals issue or something stupid like that? I currently host on go-daddy for domain name and space.

If I go into any module and just click save it appears to save and after refreshing the main portal page it shows done and nothing appears.
below is the view source of the cmps_index.php

Have you added any custom modules other than the default ones that come with the CMPS?

here is the master value of my Disabled functions
getmyinode, getopt, getrusage, extension_loaded, dl, mysql_pconnect, crack_check, crack_closedict, crack_getlastmessage, crack_opendict, fsockopen, pfsockopen, mysql_list_dbs, mysql_stat, ini_get, ini_get_all, ini_alter, ini_set, get_current_user, get_defined_constants, get_include_path, php_ini_scanned_files, php_uname, phpcredits, restore_include_path, set_include_path, set_time_limit, version_compare, zend_version, getmypid, getmyuid, getmygid, assert_options, assert, fopen, fwrite, fread, file, fpassthru, file, mail, opendir, readdir, closedir
the go daddy hosting site shows only the below to be disabled
These functions are disabled: fopen, fwrite, fread, fpassthru, file, mail, exec, system, passthru, popen, crack_check, crack_closedict, crack_getlastmessage, crack_opendict, fsockopen, psockopen, opendir, readdir, closedir, phpinfo.
is there anything in here that has to be enabled for the scripts to function properly? I installed php-nuke and oscommerc and the same type of issues occur.

Those are some extremely limiting options and I can tell you now that there are a few things that are not going to work with at least the admin side of the CMPS.

I just got off the phone with go daddy and they advised me they have just updated php about 2 weeks ago and have made the changes, the go daddy help site has not been updated yet! figures, 12 hours for nothing. They told me to switch to linux where only the below options are disabled, should I have a problem if any of the below are off:
All Posix functions are disabled. Also, the following functions are disabled: fpassthru, file, mail, exec, system, passthru, popen, crack_check, crack_closedict, crack_getlastmessage, crack_opendict, fsockopen, psockopen, opendir, readdir, closedir, phpinfo.

Those are still pretty limiting. The opendir() and readdir() options are used in the admin cp for the PHP file modules, so you're never going to be able to edit one of those modules without those turned on. I'm not so sure that list is correct though... If the mail() function is disabled, then you shouldn't be able to get any emails through vBulletin, which would severely limit a lot of functions with vB.

time for me to switch, the only way to do this on go daddy is to have a Virtual Dedicated Server Plan at min.

I've never used godaddy other than for domain registration, so I don't know what their hosting services are like. I know they are extremely cheap, but to have all of those functions disabled is a bit much, and I would be somewhat worried that they don't know how to properly secure their servers with all of those functions disabled. If you're in the market for a new host, I would suggest http://geekydesigns.com. They're run by Zachery from here and vb.com (and pretty much every other vB related site :p) and I know he does an excellent job with everything server related here.
