It just occured to me, what stops me having my site portal as a home page? Answer; the fact I don't like my last visit time causing the new thread cut off date to change and threads to be marked as read.

If this did happen, I'd whack a google search on the portal and I would use my site as a portal :)

Doable?

Interestingly enough, I was searching for my own thread to bump, saw it entitled ' Stop threads being marked as read on portal visit' on my profile view and thought "OMG! THEY IMPLEMENTED THE HACK ALREADY!!!1111"

Then I realised it was just a link to this thread... :(

Btw, once this is implemented, I have some very sexable ideas for additional modules...

The CMPS doesn't have anything to do with threads being marked as read... It will change a users last visit time since they're visiting the site, but any page on your forums will do the same.

^ ^
are you sure?

I'm talking about when you come back later and find that 'new threads' only returns a few results, because you have visited the portal so often.

Could the portal be made not to count as a visit? (for a registered user, don't mind about guests obviously)

[edit - can I have an eta on my support ticket please? ta :) ]

Any page that includes the global.php file is going to change the users last visit info, so there's really no way around that.
And I'm not seeing any open support tickets from you...

Ah ha! Apparently there will be options to tweak this in 3.5!

I shall upgrade soon...
