I've been using both products for a few months now and I have been very impressed with both products. About a week ago, my server begun to have issues (my site is very popular and has a large gallery). My site began to crash nearly every 6 hours or so. The kind tech folks here helped me out and my site is once again stable!
If you're willing to put out the money for vBulletin, the extra small expense for VB Gallery should be a no-brainer. It's money well spent. VBAdvanced is a great alternative to "Nuke" and the like. I have tried them all and VBAdvanced is the best I've found.
