Download the shoutbox from HERE (http://www.designanet.co.uk/shoutbox/index.php#download) (download link halfway down the page) Install the shoutbox, it's very easy.
Then create the template called "adv_portal_shout"
Contents of the template:
<tr>
<td class="$bgclass">
<IFRAME SRC="http://localhost/shout/inc_form.php" WIDTH=175 HEIGHT=500 frameborder="0" scrolling="yes">
</td>
</tr>
Change the path (in blue) to where you have it installed.
Then make new module using the new template.
You can put it anywhere, but the side panel is favourite.

Is it also possible that the name = name of the user who is posting the message?

For example if I'm logged in as : Hans123 then shoutbox has to be fix the name Hans123

Thnx for you answer!

That would mean closer integration between the 3rd party shoutbox software. You would have to approach the author at designanet (http://www.designanet.co.uk/shoutbox/index.php#contact)

This is a nice hack, but pointless if you are using another shoutbox such as: vbShout :http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97497

the template is probably missing a </IFRAME> to close that bit and stop the entire vba homepage screwing up :)

VBShout is not recommended at ALL if your on a heavy load site, it can make up to 50 requests per min and leave your webserver in an unhealthy state...

If you dont believe me just get a network monitor and activate vbshout you'll see the the bars go crazy. Also if your on metered bandwidth this would also kill your bandwidth.

this can be used on the cmps page, and vbshout on the forums page, and they wont mess with each other, correct?

yea, when installed this, nothing appears after it, including footer and end of page..strange. disabling until fixed.

same. stalled it, looks great. But no images, style, and posting a shout doesn't work (it works, but nothing appears and I caught the Iframe problem).

disabling until fixed.

you have to edit the config file in shout folder for image path.

I have some bad news. Last Monday (25th Sept) some wise cracker posted a very short but quite clever script as a shout and brought my forums to it's knees. Didn't take much work to repair, and no data loss, but please be aware that if you leave code parsing on in the shoutbox then it will be vulnerable.

Right, do you know what kind of script that was? PERL?

And could you figure out what was the purpose (goal) of that crack-in?

I've had similar situation when some fellow cracker has logged in to the vBulletin under the admin account. I think he/she just figured out the *hash* and somehow have converted it into MD5, which I thought is quite impossible to do...

PS. Oh, lol, just noticed the status of this guy :)
