Hello.
Can you provide examples (images) of what 'Custom Page Content' and 'News' (& even News Archives) looks like?
For example, are the middle items on your homepage examples of 'News' modules? Do you have pages that are based on 'Custom Page Content'?
This can just be an image of a page with arrows showing which is which.
The other modules on the default installation are more obvious about what they look like.
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
I just think that vBadvanced would have obvious examples as 'sales points' on their site so visitors can see its power of 'Custom Page Content' and 'News' and what the differences are without searching.
I saw there are a number of people submitting threads/posts during my search for newbie-type answers (regarding these features), that don't clearly understand exactly 'HOW' to create these types of pages. The best explanation I found thus far was from a user not vba staff. The vba staff answer provided some info but assumed more than what newbies really know about the software.
My question prior to 'HOW' was, what does it even look like to know that I'd want to utilize these features. I'm finding out more but it should be easier to find on the vba site without going elsewhere.
Thanks again.

1% of the useres here actually realize how powerful vba is. And just what you can do with it. I realize it, now if I can just put it to work.

Custom pages are just that, pages, and then you have modules, which are the blocks that can be on those pages and not on others. Make any sense?

EXACTLY! vBA is not the only one guilty of this attitude. I have found that the majority of factory sites 'talk down' to customers. Mostly, they don't even realize that they're doing it. They just assume everyone in the universe has their level of experience and understanding. :(

Seems more or less to me there is a bunch of people that just don't want to do anything other than point and click.

pennylessz28,
Your reply DOES add more clarity. Hopefully, someone will add clearer step x step instructions at the newbie level to shows us e.g. if you want to make your page do this (showing a diagram of the feature), follow these [elementary] instructions; if you want them to do this and this, follow these instructions.
I foresee that once more people understand the power features of this software with more EASE, we can take advantage of other vba software without feeling we have to depend on the 'community' vs vba to learn more of the basics.
I am liking more and more what vba's CMPS software is capable of. I just wish it contained more instruction to the features it possesses.
Thanks again for your response. You've really helped!!!

I am still learning too, there wasn't much hint of what it could do till I saw the link I posted above.
When I saw that, I got to really thinking. Although that person is iffy about deliverging his code, so I'm learning on my own, but I am pretty sure I can duplicate alot of things. And there are things I want that aren't there.
I'll post some information when I've got things figured out for myself along the lines you've mentioned.

I'd also recommend reverse engineering someone elses work. Find a module add-on any that looks interesting, and install it, pay attention to how you installed it, view the templates, look at the files that came with it.
Reverse engineer it, start making changes here and there and see where they show up.
I like to insert random letters into my templates so when I hit refresh I can see how that line of code works with everything else.

Yep - that's what I've been doing to get me through...
I can't say enough, but I really like the product. You and this forum have been very helpful.

I've been using Dreamweaver for 4 years now and have just started vba within the last month. Growing pains, but little.

how do i add multiple custom content on the home page?
for instance, right now in the center column, i have:
Custom Content - Ride of the Month
Recent Threads
With the Custom Content on the homepage, I'd also like to add a block that informs users about our premium membership benefits...
any ideas?
I tried searching, but nothing really struck me as what I was needing...
THanks!
