I like this hack from vbulletin.org which gives a way to easily keep track of all soft-deleted threads and posts:

I think if the two entries from that (deleted threads + deleted posts) were integrated into the welcome block module, or perhaps into the quick moderation module, that would be a good place to put it. Currently when I visit the welcome block and there is a new post that has been soft-deleted, it will tell me that there is a new post but when I click on it I have no idea where it is, because the link in the welcome block fails to bring me to it.
