Thank you for trying to help me.

If you look at my portal page:

www.goingnova.com/forums

You will see that I am not getting the center column. Not sure why. Also, how can I edit the "Not a member yet? Register Now!" message to unregistered users. I do not want the register option public. Thanks.

You have to add the news threads in the options. Then do a import / maintanance update counters.

If you have just upgraded from vB2 or imported from another forum system,. you need to rebuild thread info.

Also you do need to set a forum's forumid that has threads in it to pull news from

 How do I set a forum's id? You mean assign it a number?

Ok, I found where I can find the forum ID, but I still do not get it. Is it possible for someone to tell me EXACTLY what I need to do to get the center column, the NEWS column, to show?

So far I have go to the import-maintanance / update counters and used rebuild thread option. Also, I went to vba CMPS, edit page, edited my default/homepage to include the forum number of my announcements, which is 14, and nothing.

I am a total newbie when it comes to this, so please try and tell me exactly what I need to do, or direct me to a post with the information.

I am so sorry, and I HATE being this ignorant, but I have spent like 10 hours trying to figure all of this out, to no avail. :(

Did you by chance upgrade your version of vBulletin after you installed the CMPS? It looks like you may be missing some templates... Try uploading the install file to your admincp directory, and go to that file in your browser. Then select the option to install only the templates and see if that helps.

Also, note that guests can only see whatever info youve made public to them :)

Since none of your forums are public vBa will only be usefull for registered members.

Ok, thanks. Yes, I don't think I have ANY templates installed. I hope that is the problem, and thank you for trying to help. I hate feeling so dumb! :)

 SIGH - no good. I tried to do the install, but it never gave me the option to install just templates, and I got errors when I tried to do an upgrade:

No input file specified

The url for the upgrade ended in /upgrade.php and I didn't upload that. Should I have? Was I supposed to upload ALL OF THE FILES in the install directory, or just install.php? I only uploaded install.php

Can I hire anyone to do this? This is driving me NUTS! What a time sink! I have spent so much time, and all I have is a headache. And, of course, I am scared that I am going to wind up deleting my forums, which would be a disaster since it is a paid forum!

What can I do now?

You can pay $15 and have Brian do it for you.

Yes you were supposed to upload all the files that came with the program. The directions tell you what files to upload and into what directories.

It also tells you what files you need to modify, what templates you have to modify and how to edit the links so images work.

If you follow it step by step, one thing at a time, it should install easily.

Try it from the begining. If you still can not get it to work, you can pm me and I will help you. (Most likely tommorow, unless I am on later tonight

or pay Brian the $15 bucks to do it for you :)

I just sent an email/pm to Brian. I give up. Thanks for the effort folks. I ALMOST got it, but not quite, and since my forums are a paid subscription, I just can't deal with the notion of me deleting my posts.

Sincerely,
