when i do the upgrades? First, I'm upgrading vBulletin to 3.5.1, then vBadvanced. I don't want to lose all the custom templates I have for vBadvanced...how do I move them over?

Your custom/modified templates shouldn't be touched... are you starting from a completely fresh install or are you copying your existing vB database to a second installation and then upgrading that?

The second option, Kevin. I've already uploaded the new vBadvanced files to the appropriate folders and just need to get the database copied and should be ready to go. Will this keep my templates? I also have to upgrade the vBadvanced because I'm moving up to 3.5.1.
Thanks!

As long as you're taking the 'copy the entire database' approach then you should be fine.
When I upgrade my own sites I took the approach that Eva2000 listed over on vBulletin.com, of copying the database to a second instance and then upgrading the copy. In my case I then started fresh in the copy with fresh versions of all of the vBulletin files. After vBulletin was upgraded (I went from 3.0.7 to 3.5.0) I then upload the 3.5.x versions of the CMPS files, modified global.php to have the three cut-&-paste changes, verified my 'chdir' command in my cmps_index.php file was correct, and then ran vbacmps_install.php and chose the upgrade option. Went smooth and nothing was lost from my old vb 3.0.x installation including my custom templates.
The only thing to watch out for is if you may have installed any custom modules that are not compatible with vB 3.5 -- For example, the old 'Random vBa Gallery image' module for CMPS on vB 3.0 doesn't work in vB 3.5 so that module had to be disabled during my upgrade until I updated it with a 3.5 compatible version. If you're only running the modules that come with CMPS though, you'll be fine. If you're not sure let us know which modules you're running and we'll try to take & look.

Thanks so much, Kevin! I'm following eva2000's method as well. The only custom modules I've installed are the Photopost module and the current events module, though I never got it to work properly. Everything else is just custom templates.
I feel much better now and hope to upgrade everything this weekend if I can get my webhost to give me that SSH access...
Is it okay that I've already uploaded the vBadvanced files to the appropriate places before I run the upgrade script for vBulletin?
Thanks again!

Everything else is just custom templates.Worst case scenario is that after you upgrade vB and after you upgrade CMPS you go to your CMPS page and get an error. You can then still go into your ACP and in the CMPS settings turn off any custom modules one-by-one until to see which one is the causing the problem.
Is it okay that I've already uploaded the vBadvanced files to the appropriate places before I run the upgrade script for vBulletin? You're fine.... I uploaded mine after the vB upgrade only because in my head I knew the vBa products were going to be a minor issue so as long as vB worked I could take care of th vBa stuff later. Just remember to run the CMPS upgrade after you've upgraded vBulletin itself.
Good luck with the upgrade.
PS: Random thought.... if you're using a modified style, bear in mind that it'll have to be upgrade with the 3.5 changes as well.
