View Full Version : Question about right side blocks

I'm using a narrow template for my board as default only template set as 760 pixels wide, at the moment I removed the CMPS because I was finding it pretty impossible to use both left, middle and right side block with a template so narrow to suit my site.

What I want to know is this: Is there anyway prior to installing the cmps if the files can be edited so after installing you only have the option to use left and center modules. Removing the option to use right blocks from the installation completely.

If this is too hard to do or involves at lot of stuff needed to be changed it doesn't matter, but if its a pretty simple case of editing a few files prior to installing I would be grateful if you could tell me what to remove first before I install it.

umm I would highly discourage you from doing this by file editting, and rather do this by just a few template updates.

Login to your admincp, and go to your styles and templates. Open the "adv_portal" template and simply remove the cell/column for the right side modules.

The reason that I'm telling you to do this by template edit is that incase in future you wanted more zones to add your modules, you can put that cell back in the template and don't have to do all the file edits over again. You can also use that extra space and change it's location to use it as either a header or footer.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that option. I know what you mean.

But I have no intentions of using a full width option on the site. So I would have sooner done this to the file edits. Giving a custom installation instead to suit my site, rather than editing files to do this after installation really.

But thanks for the info...

are you doing a clean install? if so I could probably customize the install to get rid of the right side block, but it might take a day or two.

Yes it would be a clean install of CMPS 2.0 for vBulletin 3.0 version (Not vB 3.5).

no problem, I might actually have it in a few hours, so I might just e-mail/PM it to you tonight if I get it done without any bugs.
