Brian i am aware that you are looking for a new product and i want to suggest a one :)
I am looking for a good blog software fully integrated with vBulletin. I know you are the guy who can make this and i believe a lot of person is looking for a hack like this. There is vbJournal but it doesn't fill my requests because the users cannot customize their own blogs.
As for the features a module system will be great which users may be able to choose. It might be similar to vbadvanced cmps module system. Users may be able to turn comments on - off in their own blogs. Users may also upload custom css for their blogs so they can change the style. Categories may also be included so users can have more then one category.
I wish you consider this and start working on it and if you do i'll be the first person to purchase :)

Blog software that integrate with vBulletin is great product.
Especially if user can have subdomain address for their blog :)

I'd like to see a new open sourced vb gallery. ;) after all open source is always a great alternative to paid software :p

but a blog system would be awesome.

As of right now, I would say there's a good chance that a blog would be the next piece of vBa software.

Isn't vBJournal pretty much the same thing? Why pay for something thats on vb.org for free?

If you really want to make something worth while make a article/review system. The demand for this is alot higher then a blog as ppl already have vbjournal

Is there is any chance of a new and improved gallery script comming out any time soon? This could be a great opportunity to start from scratch with something completley different in look and feel. I would love to see a gallery integrated with vB that uses ajax to reload images without complete page reloads.

I thought that might be a possibility but I was hoping for the best. In any case, I like the idea of a blog product. vBjournal is nice but doesn't have everything I want. If the blog is of the same quality as vbaGallery then I will definitey be buying it. I bet vba, Brian and the rest of the staff here will emerge from this whole thing wiser, stronger and better than before.

Here's what I'd like to see. A good location/site database. I've written my own that is specificly coded to my forum for dive sites, but it'd be great to see a quality product that is a little more generic.

(I'm not trying to advertise, just showing what I'm talking about with the following.)

Here is my "Dive Site" section:

http://www.midwestdive.com/forums/sites.php

This is the equivalent of the "FORUMHOME" section. In my case it's arranged by state, but for a real product should be configurable.

Here is an idivdual site:

http://www.midwestdive.com/forums/sites.php?do=showsite&siteid=41

Note that it offers maps to the site, as well as sat, terrain images, and weather...

And finally here is a separate section that uses google map to display the sites:

http://www.midwestdive.com/map/

As I said this is all very custom to my site, but if a generic product could be devloped that would allow the user to customize the fields for the location, well I think that would be of great value to the community.

I've thought about doing it myself but I have another project or two that are taking precedence. If it's of interest to you Brian, I'd be happy to share my code...

The Ushop thingie could use a great developer as well, that could make an expanding shop with many more additions...I would pay for it if it's VBA made...

vbJournal is a journal not a blog exactly. in a blog you can customize everything. add different modules upon your choice , add rss feeds in modules .
also there is a perfect article system which is gars. also cinq is converting his article system to 3.5.

currently there isnt a good forum point system out there for vB 3.5

i think a robust forum cash system with the ability or easily to let other hacks/mods to re-use the cash system would be good. plus a shop to ultilize the forum cash. i think there will be quite alot of people willing to pay for this mod.

Or a nice Newsletter mod
with the basic functions such send text/html newsletter with archiving options. The archive can be view by public or private.

Or good Download system (which can utilize the forum cash)
The download system should not let user directly access the media through any means.

Although what i suggested, there are already existing mods but they are not powerful enough...

vBadvanced Commerce

fully vB integrated e-commerce system

No one has done it yet

It's something that people would be willing to pay for

Most sites need it, sooner or later

From a demand-standpoint, I think it's a huge "miss" that no one has offered this yet. People ask for other types of hacks more; that's because their assumption is that other currently-offered shopping carts would be "better". Commerce is about as basic a need as you can get.

After looking hard at shopping cart systems for 6 months, I realize how much vBulletin has spoiled me, with its incredibly elegant separation of logic (PHP) from presentation (templates)

Compare osCommerce's (http://www.oscommerce.net/) approach to modularity and extensibility vs vBulletin 3.5.0

osCommerce seems like a dropped lemon custard pie that you have to put back together in some meaningful way

A well-done elegant e-commerce system would be a reason for folks to choose vBulletin as a user / buyer -centric platform. It would be the tail wagging the dog.

The Blog is a great idea dn I will definately purchase it like everything else here.

Seriously consider a content management solution similar to all the articles hacks that are around. There have been some good ones but all of them were left unsupported with the exception of the Geeks. (Johns, Cinqs both dead). Most people (including myself) have paid over $300 for a good AM script and I know you could easily beat them over the head with features.

Another idea would be a good 'Clubs' or 'Clans' solution that would allow external registration right into the clan, clan forums with clan moderators etc etc. I would pay for that right now.

Lastly, a super improved PM system more based on a true internal email system with BCC, dafts, global address look ups, listing support would be somehting I would purchase. With the amount of spam and spam blockers in use email is becoming more and more unreliable and I only use internal pms on my site for sitewide commo.

I think this is {edited}.. I have it and installed it then 15 mins later deleted it as to me it looks like just a template edit..(Meaning : It mainly looks like a vB forums showthread.php just with custom templates to change the layout..)

my 2 cents

I of course have been working on my myspace template deal and I am talking with Danny.VBT as we are developing vbSpace.

I would be interested in talking with you Brian if you are going to develope a blog system.

I like the way the modules are used in vbA and I want to do something simliar with vbSpace, perhapps we could combine ideas and create one big blogging system?
