Anyone got a php code laying around that would make a good staff page templete? I'd like something that looks alittle better than just the forum leaders page on the forums. Any ideas?

Alright, here's the code:
Create a new templete and name it:
adv_portal_staffmembers
In the code below you'll have to replace the url to your staff members.
Their join #
and the Image for each section (you can steal mine if you wish) and then change the path to where the image is stored on your server.

ah things are going from bad to worst today...lol
Ok I've tried to add this hack
http://www.zap.games4all.co.uk/cmps_index.php?page=staffmembers
adv_portal_staffmembers contains the below code
<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" class="tborder" width="100%">
<tr>
<td align="left" height="5" valign="top">
<p align="center">
<br />
<p><small>Please Just display something... :)<br>
<br>
And I'll be a happy guy</p></small>
<br />
</td>
</tr>
</table>
Page is setup like this (see attached pic)
For some reason it won't display the page But if I enable a module then it displays the module but not the staff page.... :o
I'm a nooB to this and have a feeling I'm just being really dumb
Cheers

the only downside of this addon is that everytime there is new staff (moderators) you have to add them manually right? same goes when they leave or are not longer moderators...

yeah you have to manually change it but my staff doesn't change very often. I've not had any staff leave in about 6 months so its not to much of a problem for me.

Just keep a copy of the HTML in a txt file and if someone leaves (or gets fired :)) you can just edit that and then cut and past into your template..

I have added this page to my forums but now I need to remove it. How do I delete a module and/or how do I delete this all together.
Thanks.
poseidon
07-04-2004, 10:20 AM
just go into your admin cp, then into styles and templetes, then choose to revert the templete which will delete it. Then go to your cmps edit pages and choose delete.

you could just add a link to your staff pages into your navigation menu on you cmps portal or do you want it set up in page format?

Poseidon, I see that you have an updated staff page. Would it be ok with you if I based my own off of your new one?
I really like your template mods...they are exactly what I've been needing (I also am using your "spotlight" page that you have publicly released).
I'm asking first about this because the code you pasted earlier in this thread, is not what you currently have on your site. The new stuff is much better. ;)
I indend to modify it with my own graphics of course...I want to keep the layout the same though if that is ok with you. I'll await a response before actually doing it. ;)

;) I like my new staff page alot more than the one posted in here to. I borrowed the code from an affiliate of mine and he had no problems with sharing the code so I would assume its alright for me to share the code here. Let me get with him and make sure he doesn't have any issues with it. Once I have an answer from him I'll repost into here.

Sorry, author doesn't wish for the code to be publicly released :(
your staff page seems not to be so hard to do...

Thanks for trying poseidon.
Polo, it isn't that it is "difficult", it is that it was already complete. All that would have been necessary, is copy/paste then add your personal stuff.
However, one can always make something with the similar layout. You are right, it is not that hard. Just takes up a few extra minutes. ;)

Just curious.... what's your target visitor resolution size? At 1024x768 I'm getting a horizontal scroll bar.
BTW: The over-all look & feel of your design is coming along quite nicely. I noticed you changed the upper-right to be a random quote -- Can I ask what you're using to generate it?
apokalupsis
07-20-2004, 05:02 PM
The header is still being tweaked. It's being designed for 800+ resolutions. The problem is, the quote block code is trickin' it out. It's dynamic, and with anything dynamic in the header, the tables and code are going to be more complex. In short, the finished product will NOT have any horiz scroll bar for anyone. That should be fixed tonight or tomorrow. ;)
It's just basic PHP randomizing code and a couple templates from a friend. It's still being worked on. I will need to tweak it a bit more, and I may play w/ vb.org's quoteit hack too. If I'm happy with the adjustments, I may release it. It's still too early in the game now though. ;)
If you want to get started on something like this yourself, check out: http://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/51/0.php
It's not the same code, but it will get you started in the right direction.
keep up the good work apokalupsis, indeed your site looks really nice and proffesional...
