Any way to have a reciprocal link field? It would be nice to be able to automatically check for it, but I'd be happy just asking for it, then allowing the admin to see what the user put in for the reciprocal link, and approving / denying it based on that.

For now, you could add a custom field asking for this, make it required, and then check the link before you approve the site. I'm not making any promises since it hasn't been added yet, but a reciprocal link check option is on the to-do list for v2.0.

Hi,

The solution that Brian gave above is already built into the links directory. You simply make an extra field, and require that something be typed into that field. There is no way to verify the url (automatically that is), it is just an extra space to type in.

I searched in abundance on these forums for my answer, but unfortunately i didn't find it. What i did find in abundace was the amount of posts comparing what i was looking for against members complaining of the support around here, what i have learned and hope others do is don't buy the "vBadvanced Links Directory" and expect support, as the two don't come together. Or for your money you can expect help from a supposed Admin with answers like this.

You get a response like that as I just did a test install and followed the instructions. I see no "Modfy / Delete" Text anywhere in the admincp. I was able to add a link, and validate it with no issue.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what you did...

Just to confirm,

Fresh Install, on a Fresh 3.5.4
Added a Custom Field as per brians instructions
Added a new link
Validated that link
Removed said link
Removed said field

No database errors...

Thank You for a clear response.

So what exactly did you do, please list it clearly with the EXACT text from the admincp so I can attempt to repliacate the issue on an unhacked, unmodified forum.

Edit: I'm headed to bed as I've been up all night, I should return around noonish to continue.

What i did was: I read your reply and realised that i was in the wrong box of the ACP i was in the "Custom Links" box where i now realise thru your response that i should have been in the vBa Links Directory "Custom Fields" where i am now Struggling to make it mandatory for the box to be filled in, WHAT ALL YOU CODERS THINK IS THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE ON YOUR LEVEL, but i am sorry to say we are not. I for one appreciate the fact that such as me would have only the basic sites without your help and have donated to many of sites who has helped me in my short time of running a board. All i ask is if you see a silly reply is ask for a more in depth detail, instead of trying to belittle someone.

I want to apologize if I belittled you, it was not my intention honestly. I get frustrated as well from time to time. In the future so things go better, listing the EXACT steps to recreate an issue is generally vital esp for this sort of thing.

If things are now sorted I'm happy to hear that, if you still are having issues please let me know so we can sort them out.
