Can I show news archive but not the news?

Is there a way to only show the list of news instead of the actual newspieces? I would want to have a frontpage with some custom text and then Links to the newest newspieces. Is this possible?

If I'm thinking correctly, you should be able to set the 'Maximum Number of Threads to Display' option to 0 and then it will only show the archive. If that doens't work for some reason though you could always make a copy of your Recent Threads module and use that to display news posts.
