View Full Version : Images not showing properly

Ok, I've searched the forums and I found a couple of posts, but unfortunatly no solution. I just bought vBaLinks and installed it on my 3.5.1 board. I'm running Black & Gold 3.5.1 as my style. Now everything looks ok, with the exception of all the images not showing under the links.

Now when I update the links via the Install Script from

images/bgold/misc

to

../images/bgold/misc

everything works in my links, but my actual forum is missing any. So there is a big problem.

And another bug, when I try to add a link via the AdminCP everything works except I get this message

Could not find phrase 'your_link_has_been_added'.

'../images/' is not a valid link that will work across your site. For problems with your images, please see the post in the FAQ forum.

Well the post from the FAQ was helpful - sort of. After changing the paths everything works now. However given that I have some free hacks installed that can use the unaltered links from the vBsettings I'm kinda dissapointed with vBLinks on this account.

vBa Links Directory could easily be set to use the default image settings, but not everyone keeps their images in the default folder. Because of this, we've opted to change the images to the full path to ensure that it will work for everyone using the product.

So how do you change vBadvanced links so that it looks for images in the default folders?

Thank you

Having an absolute path to your image folders presents no problems at all, and is actually a better way to have it.

I agree...if you are only using vBadvanced Links.

But what if you are using extra mods, such as vBdrupal, for instance? There is no option in the admin to pull images from absolute paths. The images MUST be in the default folders/locations.

vbPortal should be able to look at the path, see that it's not a relative path, and leave it alone. PhotoPost used to do the same thing, but they changed it to work correctly. If vBPortal is just automatically plastering the url in front of the image paths to make them work for it, then it's a problem with vBportal.

Unfortunately it doesn't. And I can't do without vBdrupal...

So the question is: can I configure vBadvanced Links to pull images from default paths (/forums/images/icons/gif.1) rather than absolute paths?

I would assume you would just need to edit all the links templates and put the path in front of all the img src locations.

Another unhappy customer.

Any idea when this wretched image issue will be resolved?
