Anyone have any clues as to how I can fix the fact that my CMPS looks really distorted in FireFox? Someone over at vBulletin.com said it's my dodgy (X)HTML(/CSS) code...which leads me to believe that it's probably something I did wrong or that can be fixed...but how is the question??? :o

Took a look at your CMPS with IE, Opera, Mozilla and Firefox. The only one it looks good in is Opera. In IE your modules where out of whack and in Mozilla/Firefox the page got stuck with horizontal scrolling while trying to load data from mirror.qking.net. My CMPS looks perfectly good in all browsers so I'm guessing it has something to do with code you have added. Maybe some of the smarter people here can be of help...

sure its www.limudim.org though the site is in hebrew so you might have a bit of a problem understanding what you are seeing :).

in any case i have several costum modules of my own, my guess is that the problem is with the module you created, maybe you did not close a <tr> or something

seems like your style is totally custom made, so that might be a problem, i hope someone here with more experience can help you.

have you tried disabling the custom modules one by one to see if one may be responsible?

With the default template I don't have any problems in Firefox (0.8 I will wait until new spanish language pack release) or in Internet Explorer.

But I have a problem trying to see DarknessDivine's page... Did you check it throught W3C? :)

OMG... I did it and I found 367 errors in the code... if you can fix it... the page'll work for most browsers

well mine has a ton of errors to and I wouldn't begin to know how to fix them so I guess I'll just have to tell my members to view the page using IE.

DarknessDivine
06-23-2004, 11:17 PM
thats what I did..lol..I checked and 90% of my visitors use IE and the ones who don't can always click the "view this page in IE" option..:)

DD I installed FireFox tonight and my CMPS looked so bad as you said about yours.. and I went and disabled the right modules one by one till I found the problem which was the width of flash clock.. it was working fine in IE with width="100%" but that made it so wide in firefox.. so I changed it to width="135" (which is the width of all my side culomns and now it looks fine

look at each module on the right.. just disable it to your self (admin) and refresh the page till its fixed then you will know thats whats causing it to go wide

hope that helps

PS on the WC3, I checked mine and I got 2 errors.. I can't beleive that :) no way must been an error on their part :)

yet on another site, almost a copy cat of the other I got 135 errors.. go figure :)

Is not CMPS that is not compatible with Firefox, is how the website is designed... i use CMPS and it views perfectly fine in Explorer, Netscape, Firefox and even K meleon.....

It *probably* has to do with the html/images/other code in the Center blocks.

This suggestion probably sucks (cos you obviously want those ads there) but, try changing your News forum to one that has no html/other code in its posts and see if that makes a difference...that way, no major changes to undo if I'm wrong.

:)

Exactly..I believe the biggest part of my problem began when I started adding custom templates written by different people, and they all have different widths and so on. Also the html can be very large on some of the news posts and some have certain things that confuse FireFox.
I checked the "other" website that I designed myself and it viewed perfectly in FireFox so that was a relief..lol
I went to FireFox support and found countless people posting about it not reading tables and CSS correctly and so many other things I'll post about later...;)
