Extremely high query count on the CMPS vBa Homepage ...

The count for me is 32 queries - I have no uncached templates, but still it's very high.

I believe that happens when the moderation box is turned on.

Pretty sure I skimmed through something about that.

I thought it might have something to do with the Quick Moderation box - but shouldn't there be a way to optimise that set of queries into one query ?

It shouldn't be that high even with the Quick Moderation box enabled, unless you have added some other hacks that affect all of your pages.
There's not really a way to combine the queries for the Quick Moderation box, but it should only appear for mods and admins, so the only time those queries are performed is when somebody that has permission to view that box is on the page. ;)
