I can't upload modules. Whenever I try I get the following error:

The file you have uploaded is not a valid module file.

This has happened twice, the most recently with Tom M's Customizable RSS feed module.

I have successfully uploaded at least one module. There down not seem to be any reason one would upload vs. another.

Any ideas where I should be looking?

Do the files that you're uploading have an extension of .module? Only .module files can be uploaded through that section. If you have a regular .php file that you want to use as a module then you will need to upload it to your forum/modules folder, and then add it through the 'Add Module' link.

Hi Brian...

Yes, the modules do have the proper extension, and another vBa user (Tom) actually went to my site and verified the behavior (the error). I'm not sure why vBa is falgging the module and invalid as the file, extension, etc, all seem to be proper.

I used the Add Modules function properly (AFAIK) and I still get the error.

I'm not sure if I should re-install vBa.

BTW, I renamed the cpms_index.php to index.php and renamed the standard index.php to std_index.php. In other words, I want the forums page to be the vBa page, and then have users navigate to the forums using the navbar. I hope that's what's causing the problem, but I have no way to tell.

I'd be happy to give you the same login info if you care to take a look.

TIA for your help.

Larry

You *shouldn't* be getting that error if it's a .module file. I'm not entirely sure why you would be off the top of my head, but if you'd like to submit a support ticket via the Members' Area here I'll be glad to take a look.
