BBCode in Custom Field

I am just getting started with Links and I added a custom field and placed a bbcode in there for a url. The resulting display of this link shows the bbcode in the field, uninterpretted. I have read a lot of threads on this, and it is unclear to me whether it is possible to have bbcodes interpretted when viewing the link entry in the directory. My goal is to put a url in that field.

Admin CP => vBa Links Directory => Edit Directories => {choose directory} => Custom Fields => Allow BB Code

Do you have that option turned on?
