I cant seem to get this right...

The URL to my forums has always been http://www.clubcamaro.net/forums.

I installed the portal, and the cmps_index.php file (which I renamed to index.php, and I put it in the root directory) asks me to specify a forum path, which is SUPPOSED to be /forums. Now that I've installed the portal, not only does the portal not show up, my forums themselves dont show up anymore.

I'm getting this message:

Invalid forum path specified! Please edit this file and be sure to include the correct path for your $forumpath variable.

the path should be /forums, right?

Thanks for any help!
Aaron

That's your URL, not your path. If you're not sure how to find your path, please see this thread:

new problem - I'm trying to put a link to the forums in the "site navigation" module. It asks for the url to the page I want it to go to - for some reason my forums are not located in /forums anymore, I keep getting the same error message as before (I've tried both /forums and the complete url, as well as the path that I used above, nothing works)

Looks like you replaced your forum index.php file with the CMPS. You need to either rename the cmps_index.php file to something other than index.php, move it to a different folder, or follow the instructions in the FAQ forum here about running the CMPS and your forums in the same folder.

ok, figured it out - for some reason the index.php file in the forums folder was a duplicate of the index.php in the /root, with a wrong path too lol. I just replaced the affected index.php file with my backup file and it's all working now!

my problem is the same but in admin cp in the url I erased the /forum/
and when I try to enter to the site I login and redirect me to this
Not Found
The requested URL /login.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Brian, upon installing this for a friend, i got the invalid path error. Thing is, I copied the path straight from the vBulletin config file that I just installed for him. His forum is working fine but that path wont work for VBadvanced. Vb is installed in /forum and vBadvanced is in root with cmps renamed to index.php...

Any clue?

I just did mine and the vb path in config wasn't the same as the path for the vb advanced

there is faq in the read me in install package I used find the path I used in for the vbadvanced install

Hope it helps you out like it did me

Q. I'm not sure how to find the path to my forums.
A. Look in the "Extras" folder that came with your download for a file called 'forumpath.php'.

Upload that file to your server into your 'forums' folder where you have vBulletin installed, go to it in your browser, and it should print out the correct path to your forums.

Copy that path, paste it over what you currently have for your path in cmps_index.php file, and re-upload that file.

I hope you can help. We are currently in the process of migrating our forum from SMF to vBulletin.

I have installed the forum on a subdomain http://forums.hdanddvdbargains.com and I have installed vBadvanced on the main domain www.hdanddvdbargains.com - however whenever I type the home page URL i get the Invalid Forum Path error. I have checked, double checked and triple checked that the path I have entered is DEFINATELY the path of my forum, but the error still occurs. The path to my forums is /home/default/forums.hdanddvdbargains.com/user/htdocs which is exactly what is displayed when I run the forumdisplay.php.

Any ideas????

OK, I added a new IP address to my dedicated server and pointed this site to it. This fixed the problem, though I don't know why.
