View Full Version : Adding meta description to CMPS
Where can I add a meta description to CMPS? Right now search engines give you a lot of garbage when listing.

The meta tags are controlled in your main vBulletin options section, listed under 'General Settings'.
Brian:
I have placed a Meta Description within the VB Admin General Settings area, but it appears that the search engines are not picking up on it. Looks like they are not getting past the CMPS index page.

Your site has 420 pages listed in Google, so it doesn't look like there's a problem with their spiders getting past the index page. I've noticed as well that it doesn't seem like Google picks up on the meta tags for some reason (it doesn't pick them up for any of my sites, or even vbulleitn.com).
Exactly... I wonder what the deal is... maybe a question to ask over there, since what sense does the meta descriptions make if their not being applied to the major search engines.

I'm thinking it might be something more to do with Google... I see the meta descriptions on Yahoo... Plus I just did some searches on Google, but on the pages that it has descriptions for, they're not the same as what the site has in their meta tags...
I looked at aliensoup.com and noticed the same thing. It picks up the login then the custom page module.
Your right... seems to be just a Google thing, although vBulletin.com seems to have it together.
