Added a value into this field and checked to make sure no items were excluded in the links category. I entered 4 random links and went back to the links page and did a screen refresh and it shows nothing there.

It shows the newest links, but not the random links. Any ideas, not a big issue compared to some of the others. I checked here and did not find anyone one else having this problem.

I also enabled random link and went to link page and refresh it didn't come but after few hours or soo when I visited the link page it contained random links so I think it doesn't appear as soon as we enable it.

at least wait for 24 hours if it doesn't work then ask brain for help.

Figured it out. The random links are generated by a cron job that is scheduled to run once a day. Until it runs, they won't show up on your links index. Login to your admincp and check out the scheduled task manager. It's in there. If you run it manually, they'll come right up.

Dennis - If this was a new install and you did not have any links previous to changing that setting, then you should have gotten those results since there were no links when the cron job was first run. If you already have links and change the setting then it *should* go ahead and run the cron job then so that the new settings can take effect.

Brian,

Just to let you know, I had to manually run the cron job to get anything to show up immediately. I changed the number of random links that should be shown on the index, and do have links. They didn't come up until I ran it manually. Of course I didn't wait for the scheduled time as it was only once a day I think. Is changing that setting supposed to automatically start the cron job?

Hi Brian, this is not a new install, but an upgrade to the current version, and I have run the Cron job for the random links and there is still nothing there.

Will go through all the settings again to triple check, but is there any thing else that I can check?

Thanks

Off the top of my head...
Make sure you have a valid number set for your "Random Links on Homepage" setting.
Make sure that you have not customized your 'ADV_LINKS' template.
Those are the only things I can think of if you've already tried running the cron job and such. If neither of those help and you'd like to submit a support ticket via the Members' Area here I'll be glad to take a look.

Brian I have put in a support ticket for this, there is an SQL error that I get which I just found.

Thanks
