Outer edge color not changing

The outer edge color of the page is not changing when I change the css body color via the Style Manager>Main CSS. I can see the change taking effect on the main part of the page but it looks like there is a 10px or 12px border of light gray (d4d4d4) on the left, right, and top of the page. What css style might be doing that? Where do I look to fix it?

This is a default install and I have made only minor changes to the header so far.

Any ideas, or direction for me?

I'm just developing it locally for right now, and for some reason I can't get the file to FTP out to my server right now. I'm not sure what I can do.

OK, it seemed to only be having trouble on cmps_index.php. Changing the background color seemed to work on all the other pages. For this page I had to remove teh margin on teh body and add a border the width and color that I wanted it to be. That seems to work. It just seemed odd that I had to do it that way.

Also, where can I go to learn the best practices and how to best make use of this product? Is the documentation the best place to go, or is there something some other place that will help me out? I'm having a hard time, conceptually, figuring out where everything fits in. Where can I find that information?
