Ok I am getting this error when I try to upload a banner...
Your "Banner Upload Category" is not writable. Please ensure that the path you have entered for your "Banner Upload Category" setting is correct and that the category is chmod to 777.

I have looked over the zip package, instructions and then look for somewhere though my FTP where the banners maight go but found nowhere. The instructions say to cmod a links/banners directory 777 but there is no such directory. what do I need to do? I have tried to create a banner and banners folder and cmod them but that dosent work.

In your ACP you can actually specify the folder name that you want to use.

ACP => vBa Links => Modify Settings => Banner Upload Directory
ACP => vBa Links => Modify Settings => Banner Upload URL

Those are new settings in Links so you may have missed them if you did an upgrade. Just create a folder somewhere on your site that is accessible to the public, change the permissions on the folder to be 777, update those two settings above and the you should be good to go.

the only thing I have in "Modify Settings" are the global options of Header Replacements: Navbar Replacements: Footer Replacements.

And no options to expand anything to get more options.

And no options to expand anything to get more options. And you're running vBa Links 2.0.0 Beta 2? If yes, it sounds like something went wrong with your upgrade. To re-running the script and choose the option to Upgrade. To be on the safe side, also re-install the phrases.

If you're not running 2.0.0 B2, then older versions of Links did not have a banner upload option.

Actually, don't listen to Kevin (:p).

There was a problem with the setting groups on new installs when 2.0 was first released. If you'll download the package from here again, upload the forum/admincp/vbalinks_install.php file, and then go to this URL, that should add the settings back for you.

Well, in my own defense, it has only come up one other time before now. :p
