Ability to limit characters for news archive title

Well, Brian has said there is no option that allows a limit of the characters for post titles in the news archive.

I think this should be implemented immediatly. If you can do this for the latest threads.. why not the news archive.

is this really necesary? and why would this be useful? let me know i'm not against it, i just would like to konw how others would use it.
