While the actual OnlineDebate.net is live with a different skin and site design, I'm redoing it, creating a brand new design.
It's beta (that I'm still working on, but hope to have completed in a couple days), is found here: www.myfamilycorner.net (the domain is just an old domain I had lyin' around, don't be fooled by it hehe).
I'm debating about taking the black out of the header and using translucent blue. Any input?
Something I've done a little different (at least from the few sites that I've seen listed in this forum), is use an independent .css file to make the site more streamlined and uniform. I don't like vb's way of doing it.

I like this site very much...
I assume you're intending to put the rounded table headers on all modules... which will look nice... but there is one thing... in high resolutions, the table background image behind the "onlinedebate.net" graphic (the part with just the horizontal lines) does not extend all the way to the end.
In lower resolutions (or smaller window sizes) this is covered by that cool looking silver information panel thing... but in higher resolutions some 'blank space' is visible to either side of it.
Many people these days run extreme resolutions, so this should be fixed.
tell me, did you buy a template/style combination or design this yourself? - its very nice :)

by the way, I like the shape of that black part... but it would work better in any one of these colours:
Dark Blue
Pewter (basically grey, but not as dark as it is now... dark silver?)
Silver
I also don't like the cyan in use in the tableheader and in the calendar... I think it conflicts with the other blues you have around the place. The gradient in the navbar is more subtle than that, and as a gradient the cyan doesnt appear directly next to the dark blue, which IMO looks odd.
I really like the logo... with the little guy and the microphone. Very cool.

Thanks. ;)

Yes, eventually all blocks will be rounded. vbCMPS doesn't do this by default, so I have to manully edit each template (which can be a pain). But I think it looks more professional with 100% rounded corners on the front page.
Also, I'm aware of the header problem. It's funky...it only appears that way in IE (not in Firefox or Netscape) for some reason. I'm having a tough go at finding the problem...it has to be a table or image dimension problem...but it isn't as obvious as it would seem. However, we may not go with this specific header, but something similar...(more blue, less black). So there may be more work that just this table issue.

I paid a skinner to come up w/ the design. He's new to the scene (needs to hone up on his customer support and client services), but he is very gifted. I have time to make adjustments and fix what I don't like...but not to come up w/ a complete package from scratch...that is why I hired a skinner. Of course, the theme wasn't so hot on the CMPS, so that's where most of the work is coming in to play for me.

Yeah, that seems to be the general consensus. We are playing with a translucent blue right now. ;)

You may be right. I really never paid much attention to it as I've been spending time trying to fix up the CMS and header, not so much with the other finer points. ;) I'll play w/ some color changes, thanks.

That is my friend's design. He had another debate site, that was his intended logo. We merged, used my site...but thought that his logo was perdy spiffy...so we integrated it.

blocks are now rounded...all but the calendar. I just can't figure that one out. It uses 2 templates and quite a few "if" conditionals...so I can't modify the template like I did the others. It's funky...anyone else had any luck with such a modification?

The online nav you have on the left side of the screen, is it control panel driven? These links are they created within your admin control panel? I have a intranet that I am working on and have many links to create on the homepage and was wondering if this was a feature within the admin control panel to add this nav feature.

It's all html, in a template called adv_portal_navbar.
It's actually a popular navbar available here. I edited it in Dreamweaver to get it right, then make minor changes in the tempate itself now. If you like I can forward the code to you.
