Old modules will not show up

In my newbies days, I deleted a bunch of the modules that I wasn't using.. but now I wish to use them, however, they will not show up on the front page. Example.. news module.

1. Downloaded the most current version of vba (which my site is upgraded to).
2. Go to my server and delete the news.php file so that what is put on my server is new and not an overwrite.
3. Download/Upload Module > go to my hard drive (Extras > Modules) and find the news.module and install it.
4. It is now active via the Edit Modules. I go in and edit the module to point to the forum I want it grabbing etc. I make sure that the module is Active.
5. I go to Edit Page > Home page and make sure that it's the same as what I did in #3.
6. Go to the Home page.. nothing.

I've tried this with the birthday, polls, stats and welcome block modules. None will show up.

What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you've done everything right, though since you didn't specifically mention it... Go back, edit your 'Default / Homepage' page, and make sure the news module is checked in the 'Modules Enabled' section. If that doesn't help and you'd like to submit a support ticket via the Members' Area here I'll be glad to take a look at things for you.
