Yup, the next Version of Windows Desktop Operating system.

Longhorn is the developer code name for it.

Once released it will have a different name, MS does that with all of there software while in development.

Ahh.. codename longhorn.. When they stop using city names.. or IS that a city name? (probably SOMEWHERE it is :))

Is it available to industry professionals for download (I am due for a format anyway on one of my PCs) or is it somethin you just gotta 'come across'??

Yes, it is only available to people with a msdn ID

My company has an Id so I can get it.

You can sign up as a beta tester though, and see if they approve you.

And, from what I understand, it is something you can 'come across', but I haven't looked for it, Sorry!

We have it through Work (MSDN). Very nice, so far. It runs slow right now, but what do you expect while it's in Alpha.
