i have a pretty large website whereas the forums are just one facit of. it has quite a few pages of different content.
is there a way for me to install the portal software on the server to test it and set it up before going live ?
once its installed, if i dont like it, how difficult is it to uninstall ?

also, once i install it, id like it to be "not active" until im ready to switch over to it.
in other words, can i install it in a test directory or something so it doesnt affect my current web site ?? and then when im ready do a cut over somehow ?

i just have a mirror of everything on a local pc.
that way i can break it to my hearts content and can put it back after.
it is easy to uninstall!!
i don't think you can switch it off, but you can stop people accessing it.

When you first install the script, the main filename is called cmps_index.php. So unless you change that file or link to it somewhere nobody will know it's installed.
Uninstalling is just a matter of running a file in your browser, and then removing any files you've uploaded.

Brian just a little further clarification needed?
From the sounds of it vBAdvanced CMPS can be installed on top of a currently running vBulletin forum and anything that is manipulated regarding the setup of vBAdvanced will not effect the currently running forum? Is this correct?
I ask for a similar reason as I have a web site that much of the main non-vB home page is fed from vB and I have a lot of stuff setup in vB to manage my users as its an intranet site for my company. Would like to use vBAdvanced CMPS to replace my current home page but need to work on customizing it before switching users over.
Thanks

It doesnt affect your forum candyman. Unless you provide a link to the cmps_index.php no one will know you installed it...
