Hello;
Not to sound stupid, but I'll ask it anyway.
I plan on upgrading to CPMS this weekend, but
I was thinking, I may want to keep the vbAdvanced Homepage for "Other" content.
Does anybody know of any drawbacks or downfalls to doing this?
Has anybody noticed problems with this?
Brian; Realizing these to products are free, at least at the moment, do you have a problem with this?
I look forward to hearing from you soon ;)

Let me be the first to bite. What does "Other" mean? cmps is about layout, and easy page creation, not content.

Okay
On the homepage, I want my site Announcements and News I think needs to be on the homepage. I want commonly needed blocks, like polls, login screen, regular stuff.
On the second page, I want in the news section, only posts to a specific forum or 2, like my Articles, or my Questions of the week. blocks will consist of Links to outside technical articles, via rss. Ads via google and things to be purchased.
Basically, I want to seperate content so the site homepage isn't to cluttered and you dont have to scroll down 6 to 10 pages of the homepage to see everything. I think it would make the site look more professional.
Sense it appears the CPMS makes new templates, it shouldn't be to hard, and should work fine, I just want to know from people with more experience with this then me, whether they have seen problems. and from Brian, whether that will break any copyrights, or will he have a problem with it.
Now, Can you help?

Why would you need both installed? With the CMPS, you can easily create new pages, and every default option can be changed on a per-page basis. Of course it's fine to have both of them installed, but I can't think of a reason why that would be necessary. ;)

Looking at this screenshot

It looks like with the CPMS you can create pages, just like the vBadvanced Homepage which is great, but
It is easier for users to remember the url of a hardcoded page.
for example, I will be naming the page qotw.php instead of index.php?page=qotw
I hope I am explaining that right.
Anyway, I do love this portal and thank you for letting me know
1) You know of no issues
and
2) You dont have a problem with it.

This could still easily be done with the CMPS. Just copy and rename the cmps_index.php file, and then look for this at the top of the file:
define('VBA_PORTAL', true);
Right below that, add:
define('VBA_PAGE', pagenamehere);
Just replace 'pagenamehere' with whatever you use for the 'Page Identifier' option when you add that page. ;)

Excellent,
Thank you again, Brian
This is going to make it a whole lot easier ;) , especially if I want to add more then just a second page, which I probably will :p down the road
You rock!!
