View Full Version : Some users getting error message instead of home page

Some members are reporting a problem when they go to the home page - some when clicking on the Home link on the navbar and some when doing that or going straight to the home page via the direct URL - www.vectra-c.com
It doesn't seem to be dependant on what browser they are using either. Some with Firefox 2.0 and IE6 are getting the error, yet when I look at the home page with both browsers it's all working fine for me!
The error they are getting is.....Warning: Unknown(./includes/vba_global_error.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /includes/functions.php(2533) : eval()'d code on line 1
Fatal error: (null)() [function.require]: Failed opening required './includes/vba_global_error.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/home/andysut/public_html/forum/includes/functions.php(2533) : eval()'d code on line 1
Any ideas why?

Make sure you've uploaded the {forum}/includes/vba_global_error.php file to your server.

Thank you (again) Brian for pinpointing the problem so quickly! For some reason that file hadn't been uploaded along with all the other ones! :o
I've asked the people who were getting the error message to now see if it's fixed. I'll report back either way once they reply.
Many thanks

OK, the string of code errors etc. has now gone for these people, but instead they are getting the 'No permissions' page when they go to the home page - either via the home link on the nav bar, or directly via the main domain name.
This message.....
[username] you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. And they are definitely logged in when they click on the home page link. I asked one person who was testing fro me to clear their cookies (just in case) and it didn't make any difference.
Any ideas?

Are those users in a group that's allowed to view your homepage? Try editing your 'Default / Homepage' page in your Admin CP and make sure that the usergroup permissions are set properly

I was about to post with some extra info that I found out, to say that the No Permissions page only came up when they were logged in - but when viewing as a guest they could see the home page so it was some usergroup thing. Then the e-mail notification came through of your new post in this thread.
Again Brian, thank you, as you have solved it first time around. I recently added a new usergroup but it hadn't occurred to me that the default CMPS access settings would all be unticked for a new usergroup! It also hadn't clicked that all the people affected were in the same usergroup!
I've now tested it with a test user set up in that usergroup and it's all working as it should do.
Thanks again
Brian

Glad that took care of the problem. :)
