Hello, I want to increase the limit on the Link title, what template do I need to modify to make that happen?

Thanks in advanced for your reply,

The limit for what exactly?

The character length of the Title line. In the database, it is defined varchar(255) but it is hard coded somewhere in the templates to 50 and I want it to be 100 to accommodate some of the links that I want to support on my site. I don't want to arbitrarily truncate or have to rewrite the title line just because it happens to be longer than the script thinks it ought to be. As I said previously, I would like to know what template displays that data so I can correct the problem. The two fields in the database that pertain to that title line do not solve the problem when reset to 100 so it must me in the templates but I have not been able to find it.

Thanks in advanced, mikesz

Hmmm, I checked the Title Line in settings and it was in fact set to 100 like I wanted it and when I rechecked adding a link, every thing worked without the limit message. The only thing I can think of is that I didn't dump the cache like I thought I did but I used three different browsers and got the same problem so I don't actually know why it just started working correctly?

I'm sorry, I must have misread your first post. That limit is controlled by your "Maximum Length of Title" setting under your main vBa Links settings.

Hello Brian, Thanks for the response. No problem. I must admit that I overlooked the "obvious" on this one, I didn't realize that vBadvanced had its own settings menu which is where, as you mentioned, that change is made. I have been working on integrating vBPortal/vB/vBadvanced so my head was not in simple mode, like for two days I couldn't figure out why the breadcrumb background wasn't working and discovered that I have put a space in the URL that vBadvanced was using and I only found that one by doing a diff on two different page sources when I displayed them. Can I say embarrassing! Anyway the site is coming along quite nicely now, (http://www.allaboutdatingsites.com) if you have any suggestions, I'd be very grateful to hear about them.

thanks very much, mikesz
