I couldn't really find the a better place to post this, so if it belongs somewhere else, please feel free... :)

What is the difference between vBadvanced CMPS and vBadvanced Homepage? They look to be about the same thing... Is there a breakdown of the differences? I'm trying to decide if, or which one to use...

Thanks,
-Jim

CMPS does the same thing as homepage only easier. You can arrainge the modules with a few clicks and creating them is a breeze as well.. Go with CMPS

Thanks Brian,

I did a search, I read tons of posts, couldn't find the answer... I assumed as the admin you wouldn't give me a search link without a reason, i.e. it's there, I missed it.. ;)

I think there was ONE post I hadn't read... and that was the one that had what I needed, thanks for the proper search words.. :)

Here's the post for dcarr and others, thanks again brian!!

If you're good with PHP, or at least very comfortable with HTML, then the Homepage may be a good solution. If not, the CMPS is much easier to customize and change. If you would like to move one of the blocks in the Homepage, you would have to edit a template and move the HTML around. In the CMPS, you simply click a link to move the module to a different column, and specify the order in which you'd like it to be displayed in that column. Adding modules to the Homepage would require hacking the file to add the code. Adding modules to the CMPS only requires uploading the file, and then adding the module through the Admin CP. The CMPS also gives you more control and options when adding new pages, whereas the Homepage only allows you to replace the news section in the middle with content from a custom template.

I feel that advanced home page is the older version or perhaps the basic idea of CMPS .. since you can serach in vbulletin.org for both and see that Brian has posted tow articles their concerning these tow things ..Tigga is the name of Brian their and as you will probably know ..his post about vbadvanced homepage went back to January 2004... where CMPS announced later... The best I would say is CMPS since it is more easier and have lot of options..
