View Full Version : Module Edits On A Pure Entry Basis?

I realise there is the ability to edit modules on a global basis, such as the generic list module and this works well for a blog system. However for an article system as we're intending to use Blogicles it would be nice to have the ability to have an entry form for coded modules on a per entry basis.

The reason I say this is because you might, like us, want to display some summary information about the article in a side module. Say for example you were writing a record review, you might want to display the album artwork and some key facts like release date, genre, record label etc. As far as I can tell you couldn't do that currently as any settings the end user applies in module.php?do=layouts&page=blog_showentry are global to all articles they write.

Is this type of thing possible for a future release?

Something like this would be possible, though might take a bit of work to implement. I'm not sure when we might be able to get it added in, but I'll keep it in mind. :)

I think if you want this to work as an article product too then some options will need to be built in for modules per entry. As it stands now sadly the module system is rendered pretty useless for anyone wanting to use this as an article system and its too good a feature not to be able to use. I hope you can work something out and thanks for listening :)

Brian, we've been testing beta 1 a lot and we think blogicles will be able to do what we want to do on our site but really only if we can code some modules that can be placed on each article by the author, like the example I gave in the first post.

I see from posts here that concentration appears to be on the blog side of things for the time being as that's what most people seem to be looking to use it for. We were just wondering for the article people if this is getting serious consideration or not before the 1st stable release. Thanks.

I've got quite a bit on the to-do list right now, so it's hard to say when I might be able to work this in. It definitely won't be in Beta 2, but if things go well then I may be able to work it in by beta 3.

OK, thanks.
