vBadvanced Links Directory RC3 is now available in the Member's Area. This new version includes quite a few changes and a few new features as well.
Here is a complete list of the changes since RC2:
Custom Fields - You can now add custom fields (text, textarea, select fields, radio, or checkboxes) to collect additional information about the links that are being submitted.
Directory Options - There are now several new options that you may set on a per-directory basis which include:
Email addresses to notify when a new link is submitted
Email addresses to notify when a new post is made
Directory is Open For Links
Directory is Open For Posts
Allow HTML, BB code, [IMG] Code, Smilies and Icons for custom fields and posts
Moderators can now validate links without having access to the Mod CP (a new link is added to the links navbar if a user is a moderator of a directory).
'My Subscriptions' section now shows the directories a user is subscribed to as well as their subscribed links.
New 'notes' section for links (similar to the "Moderator Notes / Thread Summary" feature in vBulletin) which will show the last time a link was modified along with the user who modified it. This only appears to admins and moderators when editing or moderating links.
New Admin CP option to enable or disable the breadcrumbs in your navbar from beginning with a link back to your homepage.
New Admin CP option that allows you to enter an email address to notify of new links, along with one to select whether you would like to be notified of all new links, or only when one is awaiting moderation.
Moves the link validation and deletion messages into the email phrases rather than the vBa Links settings.
Lots of general code cleanup and optimizations.
Fixes all currently known bugs. (Click here (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44) for a full list)
To upgrade, simply follow the instructions in the readme file included in the zip. Upgrading should take less than 5 minutes. :)
Wow Brian,
Aside from the best price, imo, this is the best links directory out there to date. It's amazing what all you've done. Thank you for this update! :)

I agree Brian this is a great piece of work for the price. I am considering using it more of a reciprocal link directory / Link partner type of system. Rather than just letting forum members add links for nothing I might as well get a link on there site and share the traffic. However, to use your script as such it would be great if in future versions you would consider the following features. Maybe some of these are features I could pay for their development.
-> People submit their links and receive instructions on linking back.
-> Member area allows people to view their stats and edit their info.
-> Cron feature that verifies links are valid and sends email out if they are not valid.
-> Daily stats can be sent to members by e-mail.
-> Only unique traffic is counted (using IP address recognition).
-> Set an exchange ratio of any number to decide how much traffic you send each link.
-> Block traffic from certain IP addresses.
-> Incoming traffic can be redirected to random pages of your site, or specify where traffic is sent from individual accounts.
-> Referring URLs are logged for incoming and outgoing traffic.
-> Automatically deletes inactive accounts.
This could be an extremely powerful script that could drive traffic to your forum. From all the other scripts I've seen I'd gladly pay $50 or more for a script like this.
Cheers,
nolnet

This seems like a no-brainer, but could you create a subcategories at your vbLinks demo for the following:
1. vBAdvanced CMPS Homepages (so users can share and demo vbCMPS)
2. vbAdvanced Home Pages
3. vbAdvanced Link Sites
Maybe you have this information somewhere else?

Will there be an option of importing links and categories like from DMOZ? I currently use Gossamer Threads Links 2.0 and would love something like this instead but I have something like 10K links and do not want to lose them.
Thanks,
-jason

Same question as above, I have 1100 links, and want to know if there is an easy way to import them?
Also what is the status of this module? Is it officially released or still RC3? Not that it matters, but considering purchasing and want to know if new version will be soon (before I start the process of installation)
Thanks -
Todd

What other links directory will you need to import from?
1.0.0 should be out next month. The number of bugs in RC3 is pretty minimal as you can see in the bugs forum though and upgrading will be a matter of replacing your old files and running an install script (all of which should take less than 5 minutes).

Since it has a MySQL backend then it shouldn't be a problem to write a quick import script. If you would like for me to be sure of this before you purchase vBa Links you can submit a support ticket via the Member's Area here (please be sure to include phpMyAdmin info) and I'll be glad to look at the database structure, and write an import script for you after you purchase vBa Links.

This is a post regarding the links directory, so please do not ask for CMPS support in this thread. I have also already answered you in one of the other threads you started.

and I aint paying for no stinkin forum.

Well if you're not paying for a forum then this site should be of no use to you. All of our products are built around and rely upon vBulletin (which is a paid forum) for their backend, so none of them would be of any use to you.

There is no record of you paying for the links directory. If you have sent payment just forward me your PayPal receipt and I will get things sorted. Otherwise you can go to the link below to purchase the links directory.

Why would you want RC1 and RC2 when they are older versions of the script?

i haven't problem for buy that license !
in-portal have problem with utf :(
becuase i use vbulletin for my forum i want have good inlink !
i want match this script together same as direct link
and i just say that your script haven't lots of features !!!
First, let me start by saying that it's not my script. I'm just a customer =)
Second, if that is the only problem (utf), you could speak to the developers and see what they have to say about it. Maybe they have a solution for it!
Third, vBa Links is a "young" product. In-Link is a mature product with some years of development. So naturally vBa Links doesn't have a gazillion features that take time to code and test.
In-Link was created to be the center piece of a directory site. vBa Links is an "add-on" for vBulletin.
I don't want to drive away Brian's business =) but if your site emphasis is a directory, you should search for other scripts like In-Link that can integrate with vB's member system and don't choke on utf.

i got it
but i ask that question becuase i want know if i wait for some times link directory creat their software to a software like inlink or they just want a simple software (just for link) ?
Again, I'm not the developer and only he can tell where he wants to go with vBa Links but from his recent posts, he doesn't seem to be planing any major changes to vBa Links any time soon.
So, if vBa Links doesn't really satisfy your needs, you'd be better off with another script. Then come back in 6 months or a year to see if there are some changes to it.

Hollywood, do you mind if I ask what you sell on your website? Or what service (free or paid) you provide on your site?
