It would be so very convenient if, when I add a sub-category, if the fields in the options for that child category would be pre-populated with the values of the parent category. I think it is probably more common that a child category has most options in common with the parent category, and it would be easier to change one or two things that need to be different than to try to remember what all those parent settings where and make sure you get then re-set for the child category.

How about a select field at the top that gives you a choice of which category to base your new category settings on instead? That's already been added in beta 2. :)

Ahh, thank you very much! I was working on this very late at night, and each new child cat I set up, I couldn't remember what the options were. It was driving me right mad. ;)

In this same train of thought, I have a multi-tiered system set up, for example:

Cat A
-- Cat A.1
------ A.1.x (entries made here)
------ A.1.y (entries made here)
------ A.1.z (entries made here)
-- Cat A.2
------ A.2.x (entries made here)
------ A.2.y (entries made here)
------ A.2.z (entries made here)
-- Cat A.3
------ A.3.x (entries made here)
------ A.3.y (entries made here)
------ A.3.z (entries made here)
Cat B
-- Cat B.1 (entries made here)
-- Cat B.2 (entries made here)
Cat C
-- Cat C.1 (entries made here)
-- Cat C.2 (entries made here)

I'm not allowing users to make any new categories themselves. Only the users approved for submitting content can make new entries, and no one but me will be making new categories. All registered users can reply to an entry. (Sort of, but that's a request I will get around to later.)

So what I want, here, is to make sure that approved users for making new entries can ONLY make entries into the areas indicated above. The "parent" categories will never have entries made directly into them. They are for organizational purposes only. They need to be available to users so that users can locate the entries (at the final level we have about a hundred categories that can accept content, so the sub-categorizing is necessary to keep it straight). Does that make sense? I want to be able to not allow entries into parent categories.

Thanks again!
