BB & HTML code enabled but not working

I am trying to use BB or HTML code in the Description: field and I cannot get either one to function, the tags just appear as text after the link is saved. I would prefer BB but am trying both.

I do have the options enabled in the control panel.

Any ideas?

BB and HTML code are not allowed in the description field by default. If you look at the options, there are options to allow both in custom fields and posts.
