Current beta testers
You will find Beta 2 available in the Members' Area here. Upgrade instructions may be found in the "readme_vba_blog.html" file that comes with the download package.

Interested in Beta Testing?
We would still like to bring a few more forums on board for the beta testing process. If you think you may be interested in participating in the test, please see the original announcement (http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20354) for more details and instructions on how to apply to become a beta tester.

Special Thanks
We would like to thank those who are currently participating in the beta test. We have a great group of members helping out and sharing their ideas, and I think we're going to end up with a great product because of the help and feedback from these members. So, thanks again to all of you. :)

If you sent an email, it may have been that Brian doesn't need any additional beta testers or hasn't gotten around to it.

Like many others I've been following this for some time and think I would find the vBa Blogicles product very useful.

Is there any idea/feeling for when the Beta2 goes to RC or Gold?

With CPMS & PhotoPost already installed I'd really like to keep up with the vBa products because they're the best in the business, I'm just wondering how much longer we're likely to be waiting???

The current plan is to finish up Beta 3, then if everything goes well with that version, RC1 shouldn't be too far behind. Unfortunatly I can't tell you how long that will take at this point.

Thanks for pointing that out. I discovered that problem when I first uploaded beta 2 here and fixed it on the main demo, but must have forgotten to upload the files for the secondary instances. That has been corrected now though.

I may be to late but here is my suggestion. I would like to be able to submit an article to multiple categories. Here is why. I use blogicles as a New Products system and some times there is a product that can be used for multiple vehicles. So rather then having to resubmit the article more then once, it would make it easy to be able to select categories where I would like it to go.

thanks

Is anyone working on an import or conversion script for other blog systems?

Jim

Brian

Which other blog systems?

eJM

Any of the big names, like WordPress and those (all or a portion of the data) and any of the blog products for vBulletin. I use vBlogetin now and tried another (Zoints Local) and there's prob'ly a couple others (vBJournal is one).

Not yet. If you're running one of those, need an import script for it, and would like to submit a support ticket then I'll be glad to create one. Note that it may be a few days before I would be able to complete it though.

Thanks, Brian. Maybe that's something you might want to consider a paid service function.

Hope there's room for more questions...

Is it a possibility that vBa Blogicles will integrate somewhat with vBadvanced CMPS? I'm hoping for the ability to utilize the module system to add them to the left, right, top or bottom of a user's blog so that I could run site navigation, advertising and other admin selected modules to each blog, as well as allowing the user to select a variety of their own modules as it is set up currently. Maybe it could be done with some kind of internal import facility - an option to import selected modules from CMPS into the module system of Blogicles. And perhaps a set of options that will allow the administrator to place those modules in a specified order and location that would override the user's order (if I select the site navigation module as position #1, left side, the user's #1 left side would become #2 left side).

R'gards,

Jim

For the most part, CMPS and Blogicles modules should already be compatable and could be "imported" between each other using the "Donwload / Upload Module" links in each. There are also permission settings with each Blogicles module where you can control which groups will have the ability to enable/disable any of them.

I am using one forum as my blog now. Can I import my "blog forum" to this blog system later?
Thanks

Brian

Yes, we do already have an import script for vB that will allow you to import posts from specific forum(s) to vBa Blogicles categories.

I am preparing a new project and intend to use Blogicles when it will be available.

I installed vBulletin in the root directory. Will that work with Blogicles or should I use a sub directory for vBulletin?

Thanks for your input,

I've been watching this with interest. Seems to be moving right along.
Any idea how this will be affected by the blog system that vB.com is working on?

Brian
06-05-2007, 12:44 PM
misc - The product will work pretty much anywhere on your server and is not dependant on how you setup vBulletin.

Peggy - Affected how exactly? There's really nothing we've changed or plan to change after hearing of the vB product.

Is there a progress thread, or can I ask here how it's coming along? Is there still room for beta testers?

Thanks,

Beta 3 is currently in the works, and hopefully not too far off from being released. Assuming there are no major problems found in beta 3, then the first public version should be available a few weeks afterwards.
I'm sorry, but we are no longer accepting beta testers.

At the current pace, we are expecting the product to be available towards the end of July, and it will be $49.99. Yes, we do have an import script for GARS.

I agree. If this is the best Vbulletin can offer - Blogicles is by far much better. The custom fields and search for it makes the difference alone. The unknown variable will be the SNS part. If this is very good - you can by buy vblog - turn it off!! - and then only use the SNS part...! :p

I looked over at the vBulletin blogs tonight and I have to say I am not very impressed at all. To tell you the truth I think they suck. It looks like they slapped something real quick without giving it much thought. I expected a lot more coming from the vBulletin team on this one.

I am sure glad we have people like Brian who put out a Beta version and took inputs from all of us during the testing phase and put 95% of our inputs into the blogs.

Thank for working with us Brian. Your awesome and I think this product will go places. I have to admit that I was a little worried when vBulletin said they were going to create blogs, but all that went to the wayside after playing around with them tonight.

Now I am really looking forward to Beta 3.

Really interested in using this on one of my sites, I have a coder doing a custom CMPS install/design but the articles are a very big part of my site and I need it for the launch.

I have GARS right now but I would rather have this if it will be more integrated with the forum/vba itself?

Any chance I could get on the beta?

Thanks

Brian

Sorry, but we have not been accepting new beta testers for some time. Currently we are still on schedule for a public release in late July, or possibly early August.

1) Can Blogicles be the first page for CMS: http://my_site.com/ ?

2) May these lines be removed from vBa Blogicles (not from vB forum):

Thanks.

1). Yes, vBa Blogicles could act as your homepage.

2). We will be offering a branding free version that will allow you to remove the copyright for an additional $49.99.
