Wordpress like image insertion system

One thing I love about wordpress is the how you can upload images and add them to your entries on the fly. Something like this would be really nice to have.

Is it something similar to the [attach] BB code tag in vB, or does it work differently? I've played with wordpress a bit before, but never did that much with it or noticed a feature like that.

It's sorta like Blogspot, where you upload an attachment and then you are immediately able to embed the image directly into the middle of the text. I think I suggested something like this before.
