Previously I just created another news style module as a clone of the original one and added it to my portal page so I had 3 news modules pointing to 3 different subforums. This is because I have 3 types on news, the frequent stuff (General), less frequent stuff (Articles) and special articles (features) , the infrequent stuff I don't want to disappear into the ether with all of the frequent stuff and want to keep them separate.. I would also like to do the same with the news archive.
I have tried this but I cannot get it to work .. please HELP!

You should just need to copy the news archive module, and then make sure to select the appropriate news module in the "Module Parent" setting.

I am not sure I understand what you mean?
I don't need to make a duplicate of the news.php module? Just duplicate the news module in the CMPS admin. I don't know what the parent should be? Or is it just the archive that needs a parent ?
I do the following..
- Edit Modules
- Copy "News Module"
- Change the title to "Forum Features"
- Change the identifier to "forum_features"
- Change the News Forum ID to the Forum Features forum.
- Save
- Add it to the centre column of my default/homepage
- Save
And it just does not appear on the home page at all only the original news module.

Update .. I then created a features archive and now the features module displays as well as the features archive module .. odd.

If you downloaded the CMPS more than a day or two ago and you're having problems with the news/archive, you may want to try downloading the package again and replacing your modules/news.php file with the one in the package. There was a bug that can prevent the news or archive modules from being displayed properly when you have multiple ones enabled, but not every news module has an archive associated with it. The fix was applied to the download package a couple of days ago or so.
