how to add a second news module?

Posted this in the 3.0 forum with no replies yet. I'd like to know how I go about creating a second news module. I basically have 2 news sections: site news and web news. Each one should be displayed on the front page and each one pulls threads from a separate forum. Right now I'm just not understanding what files I need to make copies of to allow for 2 news modules to run simultaneously. Anyone?
