We would like to inform our customers that we will be slightly increasing the prices for our products. This price change will go into effect on June 1st, 2007, and will include the following changes:

Branding Free Licenses (all products) - $49.99 (+$10).
vBa Links Directory - $39.99 (+$5).
vBa Links Directory Renewals (1 year) - $14.99 (+$5).

We feel that this increase will help to give us more resources to develop future products, continue to develop our current products, and allow us to continue providing quality support. This will also allow us to drop the prices on occasion in order to promote sales or other special offers.

Remember, this increase will go into effect this Friday, June 1st. So for anyone who has been thinking of purchasing a license, right now may be the best time to do so before the price increase goes into effect. ;)

That small increase is nothing compared to the wonders that product can do. Definitely the best and most flexible links package on the market. Not to mention spectacular and professional support.

I know what month this is, I swear. :o
Thanks for pointing that out. The first post should have said June, and has been updated with the correct month.

Lionel - Thanks for the compliments. :)

Although I'm obviously glad I purchased the branding free option & the vba-links directory when I did, I beleive the price increase you're applying isn't unfair.
Having taken the time to learn the system of vba, I have to agree it's well worth the money (for the branding free option). I actually took the branding free because I was making good use of a free product, and figured purchasing the branding free option would be giving a little back for a well designed utility.

Brian, just out of curiosity, why not charge a fee for vBa (making suggestion at the risk of getting beat up ;) ). I would think that this would produce income that would far exceed all the other things here you sell. If not, then what about commercial "plug-in packs" to allow people to seemlessly integrate other vB add-ons with CMPS... i.e., GARS, NuWiki, etc. I'm just trying to think of other ways you might be able to get income to support further development of these great tools.

Hey Brian... head over to www.coffeecup.com... take a look at their prices and the number of downloads over the years... copy what they have done as far as marketing... you gotta start charging for vbadvanced... "free" can never last... vbadvanced gotta be worth $50 bucks... Raise links to 49.99, drop the branding free to 49.99... charge $49.99... for all your future products. I retired to Costa Rica at 47 years old from the housing business...because I charged $$$ for my efforts. You have a great product. I don't think your members are here because your product is free, I think they are here because your product works. Charge for your efforts. GO FOR IT MAN! Pura Vida.

I agree, Brian should charge money for vbadvanced as well, but of course, it is his decision :D

In any case, the new prices are still next to nothing compared to what you get.

I also think the CMPS should be a paid for mod, it is certainly the best one out there and worth every penny (As long as it's not too dear!).

For those asking why we don't charge for the CMPS... I think you're right that we probably could make more money if we did. But the CMPS was originally something I was just doing as a hobby and was released to give something back to the vB community. Currently there are no plans to change that. We do still make some money from branding free licenses and installs with it, plus it helps to give our other products more exposure (so there's only one at the moment, but vBa Blogicles isn't that far from public release). If things work out, we may be expanding our product line a bit over the Summer to include some new vBulletin styles as well. :)

There was one before it was acquired through some very questionable means....Not Brian's fault FYI.

...... I actually took the branding free because I was making good use of a free product, and figured purchasing the branding free option would be giving a little back for a well designed utility.I hadn't thought about that before. So I just purchased the branding free option CMPS, even though I have no intention of removing the copyright.

Your CMPS is by far the best one available for VB and the Version 3.0 really takes it to another level. I haven't installed yet in production, but my initial playing with it has left a great impression.

Not charging for vBa with branding on it is how you get exposure for the product. If branding-free is the only way to get it, then who will ever know what product they are using so you can go get it yourself? He tells two friends, and he tells two friends, and so on. But if nobody knows what a website is using, then no exposure will be given to the product.

What the non-paying users don't contribute by not paying for the product, they make up for in advertising. And what paying users contribute by paying, they take away from advertising.

Having both options is what brings it all full-circle. You need both advertising and the pay-product to have a successful business. Word of mouth is rarely enough for real success.

I'm also sure charging would cut the "hobbyist" websites who don't make money or aren't trying to make money completely out of the equation. Having a free product with a brand name attached is one hand washing the other. Everybody wins.

The product is good enough that it probably could make a business for itself without the free software, but if you can give to the people and have them be guaranteed to give back, why not?

I support the price change, I think brian works hard on his scripts and having use of CMPS on my various sites has been great :d so $5 to $10 incease isn't bad.

I couldn't agree more. The increase isn't enough to sneeze at, and is still far below what he could charge.

These products are great, Brian and his staff give great service, and I'm very very pleased with my links directory.

I'm really looking forward to what may be coming in the future :)

Especially considering there are scripts out there like vBSEO that charge $160 + $35 a year...

Brian, you have my total support bud..

I think you're spot-on with this Brian - the free CMPS has led to us purchasing PhotoPost and when it's released (still eagerly awaiting) vBa Blogicles.

If I had a need for the links directory product I would purchase it in a heartbeat - but we never would've been exposed or prepared to consider any of the products if it weren't for the free CMPS in the first place being the wonderful product it is.

Keep up the great work guys, long live vBa!

The price increases are nothing for the value you get for it.
Although Brian negotiates it I would be willing to pay, say 49-129US$ for CMPS 3.0. This thing is so stable and good one should be forced to pay for it. As soon as I recognize what I can use vBa Dynamics for I am proud to buy it.

And, once again, I would have been happy to pay for vBa Gallery tripple of price every year, but you sold it. Now PP lets it die slowly so its not worth to change to that gallery anymore, although I have a license...

So, what did I want to say?!
Thanks a lot for your wonderful work and tell the community, if you need more money to continue. Please do not stop because of money things...

I totally agree. I will always buy vBadvanced products. The CMPS shows what is possible and I am ready to be a part of it.

I've used vbadvanced on one of my car forums for a long time, my member and me are not dissapointed. It's great we have this portal for our vbulletin forums!
