Hey Everyone,
I found out about vbadvanced from a friend of mine, and when I thought of building a forum, I wanted to include it in my project. I wanted to ask 2 questions from those experienced with using the product.
1. For someone just starting a community, is it worth it to have both vbadvancd and vbseo installed from the very start, or should you wait till you build some traffic?
2. For those that didnt do the install/design themselves, how much is a fair price to have both vbulletin installed and special skin designed, as well as vbadvanced/vbseo installed?
Thanks ahead of time!

1. There is no reason not to implement vBadvanced from the get go... since the price is $0. It will give you a great home page to get started. As for vBSEO, that was is harder to answer. For me, I wouldn't probably do it until the site has been going for a while. Non vBSEO urls will still work even after you deply vBSEO. I have a very busy site that I have vBSEO on, and another site that is about a year old that I've not had vBSEO on yet. I am looking to add it at some point. The thing is, once you go with vBSEO, you can't really ever go back because all the urls for any links... even internal links within the site.. would be broken. You can't ever turn it off.
2. I installed it myself, so I can't answer that question really. I would encourage you to do it yourself because it is not very difficult. It will teach a little bit about the process, which will be valuable when you need to do one of the many future upgrades you'll need to do. Since this is a new site, you can't really hurt anything... so why not give it a shot.

Thanks alot. That information does help for me. I definitely want to go with the vbadvanced layout from the onset, and my partner and I are debating whether to go the route of adding vbseo now, or wait till later.

Adding vBSEO now would potentially give you some potentially greater SEO... and potentially give you some greater traffic as a result. However, personally I wouldn't bother with that until your site was established. I won't break your urls to implement it later because the non-SEO urls still work... you just can't go the other way. It isn't difficult to implement after your site is up and running.

Both vBulletin and vBadvanced offer installation services and have them posted on their sites in the product area. If you are looking for a good custom skin designer, then check out http://vbskinz.com . I have had him do two sites for me and he does excellent work... very reliable and I've dealt with him over the last couple of years. I don't recall the exact price I paid because he did a lot of non-standard stuff for me, but if my memory is accurate it was low $x,xxx for a custom skin... this including a new logo/brand, icons, etc. The vBadvanced script will use whatever vBulletin skin is created.
