Guestbook suggestion

I love the new guest book module. I have a suggestion for it.

Could it be set up by categories. So that each category could have there own guest book. This way when a user has more then one blog they can have each guest book separate and not all guest book entries would go into one blog.

The reason being is if one user has more then one blog and other users are replying to them in the guest book the person has no idea which blog they are replying to.

It shouldn't be too hard to add a new option to allow for per-category replies, so I'll see if I can get that worked in before RC1.

If you get that working for RC1 then if we start using the guest books now will they separate the posts in there to work per category. I don't want to start using the guest books if the RC1 version will not separate the entries that are made now.

I suppose it's hard to say for sure since I haven't worked on the code yet... Assuming I get it to work the way I think I will, then your other replies made before RC1 would most likely be lost. Though if you wanted to do something like associating EVERY guestbook reply with a certain category, then that could be done by running a simple query. Something like trying to sort through them or associate different replies with different categories would probably not be an easy task though.

So what your saying is if I start using the guest book now then we could run a query after the RC1 guest book come out and it would place them all in the associated category guest book?

I have not fine tuned running queries yet but if this is the case and you gave me some guidance on what query to type in then I would start using the guest books now.

Yes, it would be easy to update all guest book replies and associate them with *one* category after this change is made. I'm not completely sure what the query would be yet since I haven't written the code, but if you'll post again after RC1 is released to remind me I'll be glad to walk you through it.
