I'd like to use this product to display a list (and content) of manuals.
The manuals are written in html, users shouldn't be able to reply to a posted manual (do I use the 'article' option to post these), is it possible to use html in the articles?

Second question : can the 'whats new' and 'search' columns be DISabled?

Yes, it is possible to use HTML in articles. It is strongly NOT recommended to allow HTML for regular users though as that could lead to security problems. If you plan to set the permissions on your categories so that only admins or other trusted memebrs can create new entries though, then that should not be a problem to allow HTML.
Yes, the What's New and any other modules you see in the demo can be disabled.
