There is an .html option under "create page" in the CMPS.
It gives you the option to fill out a file pathway to the .html on your server. You then have it is the "custom content" module (it is active by default)
Stuff on the left and right is totally up to you. :nana:

I got it. I had the URL wrong.
It was
cmps_index.php?page=roster
when it should have been
cmps_index.php?pageid=roster

How do I ....
add a HTML page. Each time I try it tells me to add the full path and not a URL to the file on the server. What's the difference?
Can someone please give me an example as I have tried many different things with no luck.
So far I have stuck with modules and templates which I have no problem adding.
Please help.
Thank you

the full url would be some thing like...
your/server/with/a/big/path/here
If your cmps is working correctly, you can find an example at the very top of the cmps_index.php called "forumpath" (obviously, that is a path to your forum, you would have to modify it to go to the .html)

Thank you Towermatt,
I have it sorted and now I have also edited my cmps_index.php with my forum path which I hadn't previously done.
HTML page created successfully.:D

Nice!
so glad I could help.
This product has revolutionized my site and I love to give back to others that are trying it.
This is my new home page if you want to have a look

I haven't made it live yet, wanted to get my members reactions to it.

Cool site and yes better than the one in your signature.
Now I can make html pages as well as having vBadvanced installed I know what you mean by 'revolutionized'. I have only just started with vBadvanced but thanks to vB, vBadvanced and the great members/staff on both forums I wouldn't go with any other product and yes I too help out if and when I can on the forums (settings not coding yet), oop's off topic:rolleyes: , sorry .
Thanks again for helping.

Does anyone actually know how to add a page, it has to be easier than all this...
I created a html file called navigation, it is on my server as index2.html/php
How do I load this page in the centre column?

Mike Holohan - If you want the content from that HTML file to be displayed on your homepage, then you will need to edit your 'Default / Homepage' page through the Admin CP, use the options at the top to change it to a HTML file page, and then enter the path to your HTML file in the space provided.

Looks like your site was hacked, which is something you would need to talk to your host about to see how it happened.

You cannot enter code like that for the 'Page Identifier' setting. There's no need to add the 'pageid=' part, and you cannot have slashes and such. It needs to be something simple with just letters/numbers.

Hi,
i just installed vbadvanced and tried to implement a different html-page.
I implement it as expected.
- add new html page
- set identifier
- set forum path correctly
But when I call this page (cmpd_index.php?pageid=index) browser shows me a 404.
Can anybody help?? Great thanks...

Admin CP => vBa CMPS => Default Settings => Main Options => CMPS URL
Make sure that you have that option set to the full URL to your cmps_index.php file (or whatever you have renamed it to, if applicable).

I MUST be an idiot! Maybe my age ?
I have tried evertything above! NO LUCK!
On my home page, I want to have a custom screen above the default forum stuff like posts etc. on centre column.(side colums are 100%)
I have made external pages, then I also changed the templates and I still cant get it to show! I changed from php to tem, plate to html and more!
I even loaded the image and simple text module and cant get that to show either!!!
Is there a STEP BY STEP guide for this?? I have been at it for 4 solid days now and am at my wits end :(
The rest works just fine! JUST my darned home page!!

Can I please get some help here???
I am trying to make this page:
http://www.ultralith.com/adpeeps/index.php?loc=view_adrates&uid=100000

I can not figure out what the path to file is...

Looks like this is not a html page.
When it's saying the path is invalid, well that's the problem, a valid path would be something like (in your case):
/home/content/u/l/t/ultralith/html/adpeeps/adrates.htm
On linux servers it would be something like:
/home/***/domains/public_html/filename.htm
The *** stands normaly for your accountname.
Just tested it, working great! With this post I just found out I could remove a template.:)

I'm new at this so please bear with me :)
What would the page identifier be?
Black Tiger
02-07-2008, 02:01 AM
You can give the page identifier any name you like.
If we keep with my example (adrates.htm) you could also name the page identifier "adrates" (without the quotes). The url would be something like:
http://www.yoursite.com/index.php?pageid=adrates

/home/content/u/l/t/ultralith/php/adpeeps/test.php

I'm not able to see my html file. I edited my "homepage" to be HTML but everytime I try to enter the path (it's in my root), I keep getting the error that the path is bad. I've tried home.htm, /home.htm and ./home.htm with no luck.
The path you have specified for your HTML File path is not a valid file on your server. Please go back and enter the full path (NOT the URL) to this file.
I've scoured over this site looking to solve my problem but couldnt quite find the answer.

Try entering the full path to the file. (ex: /home/yoursite/public_html/filename.html)

Thanks for the response!
My target HTML file called home.htm is in the root directory of my webserver, so I tried:
(1) /home.htm and
(2) ./home.htm
Both gave the error:
The path you have specified for your HTML File path is not a valid file on your server. Please go back and enter the full path (NOT the URL) to this file.
I then tried home.htm using no slashes and it worked. Decided to move the html files to their own directory called "html" so the path would be /html/home.html and updated the page in the admin section. I keep getting the same error as above.
I noticed this in the diagnostic section:

Fixed the URL error by adding a period to from that was suggested in another post.
Still grappling with the HTML file path issue. I downloaded the latest vBa, and have only changed (or attmpted) the home page (e.g. index.php as a HTML file).

The paths you entered are not the full server path. You can try "../home.htm" (notice the two dots) and see if that helps. If not, you need to enter the FULL path to the file on your server. If you're not sure what the full path is, download the file linked below, upload it to your root directory on your server, and then go to the file in your browser. It will print out the full path for you. Copy that path, then add "home.htm" at the end, and then you should have the correct path.

Updated my previous post.
Solved! My path was C:\InetPub\wwwroot. That was a little bit of a curve ball as I expected the root drirectory to be from wwwroot down (e.g. "./" or "/") not the entire install path of the webserver.
Thanks for the quick responses.
