Getting Started

I'm completely new to creating a forum right down to not knowing where to obtain the software. Hopefully someone here will be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

I'm interested in creating a community forum for my child's school district. It would be beneficial for the teachers to have real time postings of homework and other things. A discussion forum could serve this purpose well by allowing easy access for changes, updates and viewing.

So how do I get started?

I suspect that's where to get started.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a leased license and an owned license?
