I guess now is as good of a time as any to update the importer. :)

The importer is a one time deal. It would be better to have a Thread Tools plugin in the same manner of move/copy so we can also move individual threads any time.
When you click on Move to Dynamics, then if more than one install, next screen asks for which instance. Then pulls the categos for that instance so we select where to move it to.

I have a question about vBulletin Forums Importer
When I use this script to import posts and threads into Dynamics, does the script wipe out the posts and threads in the forum or does it simply move the copies?
One more question: Dynamics does not imbed or incoporate YouTube videos imbeded into the VB forum. Why? Is there another way to get YouTube videos into Dynamics?
Thanks

The threads will remain in the forums.

RaceJunkie:
Thanks for answering my question.
For some reason, YouTube video does not show for me in Dynamics
I use the VB plugin called "AME Autmoatic Media Embedder 1.0.0"
Which plugin do you use to accomplish this in Dynamics and where can I download it?
Thanks

Brian:
I am about to use the vBulletin Forums Importer, but I want to clear up one more thing. I am actually moving my initial installation of VB forum from one folder to another. Initially, I had my VB installation in a subdirectory named /board. There are many forums created there, such as "Breaking News", "Articles", etc, etc. Because of many issues and mistakes I made, I decided to do a fresh installation of VB forum in another forlder named /forum. Then instances of Dynamics are installed in many other folders named /breaking-news, /articles, etc, etc.
My intention is to move each forum to one instance of Dynamics install.
My questions are two:
1) This script should be able to move my forums from /board directory into the instances of Dynamics installed from the new /forum directory?
2) Can the script move my original forum from /board to /forum?
Note that I intend to delete /board directory as soon as I move everything.
Thanks in advance.

1). If you are using two separate databases for each forum (which I assume you are), then the import script is not going to be able to import data from one database to the other.
2). The script only imports vB forum data into a vBa Dynamics installation. It cannot import data from one forum to another. vBulletin does have their impex script though, which should be able to import data from one forum to another.

Brian:
Thanks a lot. I discovered your answer by experimenting with the script last night. I found that the script only works in one database where both Dynamics and VB are installed.
I discovered that the latest version of the impex is already in my PC. I will read the manual now and do some testing before using it.
Also:
The titles of posts on Dynamics are cut down too short. How can increase the length of the titles?
Thanks a lot Brian.

Are you referring the titles shown in modules (like What's New or Random Entries)? If so, there's a setting with each module like that which will allow you to control the maximum number of characters in the title.
