vBadvanced CMPS v3.0 RC2 has just been released and is now available in the Members' Area here. In addition to correcting any known bugs, there are also a few new features and options, which are as follows:

When adding a new template page, there is now a place to include the content for the template (similar to when adding a template module).

New setting in the Recent Threads module to allow you to display the "first new post" image linking members to the first unread post in the thread.

New settings in the News module allowing you to enable/disable displaying the number of replies and views.

Integration method updated to include the top portion of the template including all code before the <body> tag (helpful for integrating pages that require custom javascript or other code in their <head> tags).

When uploading a module, it is now possible to select multiple styles to install the templates to.

In addition to the ability to preview BB code modules and pages, you may now preview PHP file and template modules/pages as well.

The "Modules Enabled" section when adding/editing a page will now split into multiple rows if you have more than 3 locations, preventing the custom columns from stretching the page.

When deleting pages, it now checks to see if the page has been used in integration and allows you to remove that page from your integration settings before deletion (prevents a problem where deleting a page used in integration results in a "No page specified" error message in the files the page was integrated with).

New "Diagnostics" link in the Admin CP that will scan for missing module files, incorrect URL settings, and outdated CMPS files on your server.

The majority of the code to process module has been moved into a plugin that is called in the vBulletin print_output() function, preventing modules integrated with vBulletin pages from being unnecessarily processed on page redirects and other times when they are not needed.

If a module is saved with the "Apply Forum Permissions" setting enabled, but the "Initialize Forum Permissions" setting disabled, the "Initialize Forum Permissions" setting will automatically be enabled as forum permissions may not work properly otherwise.

Links added to the navbar template via hooks (or the $template_hook variables) will now have the Navbar Replacements function run on them, allowing you to update these links via the Navbar Replacements setting.

Nice. This fixed the problem I was having with vbSEO , not properly being able to optimise my home page.

One question.. Will this RC2 upgrade allow me to add vertical banners (skyscrapers) along the right side of my FORUMHOME page..underneath my right column module? I cant never figure out where to edit on FORUMHOME to get the banner below the module.

Really impressed with what's been done to VBadvanced. I'm very tempted to pay for branding free :)

Links added to the navbar template via hooks (or the $template_hook variables) will now have the Navbar Replacements function run on them, allowing you to update these links via the Navbar Replacements setting.

They don't work in RC2! I searched all the files for global_navbar_replace and I did found it once on the installer file only. there are no hook or file contains this variable!

When uploading a module, it is now possible to select multiple styles to install the templates to.

I don't know why you don't insert those templates to the default global style, and they can be customized after then per single style. when the module get deleted they will be deleted too with their customized versions. in the same way products in vBulletin work.

T's been a while since I used vBA (version 2.x?), now we are using v.3.0 RC2 to power our homepage @ vBSEO.com and I must say I'm amazed by the improvements in the latest incarnation of this beautiful piece of software. The interface is sooo much more intuitive, and the settings and controls are very straightforward and easy to use for such a feature rich product. Congratulations on such a great job!

Looking good!

Suggestion: Make the attachment icon "clickable" to show all the attachments like on a normal thread listing.

another suggestion - make the front page News item attachments linked to the thread in question, not the image by itself. Or at least give us an option to choose whether we want that ON or OFF...

as it is right now, I gotta replace a bunch of code in /modules/news.php to get that hardcoded, as it's really useless if you click on the thumbnail and all it does is show you the thumbnail by itself...

oh, and the good ol' feature of allowing mods/admins to check off certain posts on the front-end as News items and have them listed in the front page as news... still waiting for that one ;)

I've always liked vbAdvanced. A really nice and useful product.

When 1000s of members get on the board though, it slows the board down terribly. Is there now a way to disable vbAdvanced page and go straight to the forums page if the SERVER load gets beyond a certain point?

Thanks.

Will RC2 be compatible with the the new VB 3.7.0?

Brian

There's no way to know until it's released, unless one of the Jelsoft devs that's using the CMPS has commented on it.

Thanks Brian - I won't install it on the CMPS sites until we know.
