That is exactly what the CMPS does. I looked at your first example and from what I can see, the module in the middle is exactly like the news module that comes with this product.
Basically, you make a thread with a graphically intensive first post anywhere in your forum. Then just set the "news" module to active and have it point at that thread. You could do the same with a forum and many threads.
They achieve the news look by how they set up the first post in the thread it is pointing to.
An example of how it looks on my site can be seen here (http://www.thedarktower.com/news). That entire page points at my "news" forum on the board and all the items there are graphic first posts in the threads in that forum

All you have to do is create a forum for your news (or thread). Make the first post graphically interesting with images, fonts, whatever. All BBCODE forum stuff. Then leave it there for all to see and comment on.
Then you go into the CMPS page that you want that first post to appear in and activate the news module. Go down and expand its settings, then point it at the forum (or thread) you just created. Browse out and have a look.
The news module for this product simply captures the first post of a designated thread (or group of threads in a forum) and shows it to you. Like opening the page right into the first post in a thread.
Hope that makes sense

You haven't understand right. I want the script from the news.php file. I don't want to tell me the how to active it on VBadvance. I want only the code. I don't want the news to be part of VBadvanced.

The news module is not going to work outside of the vBadvanced code structure.

ok--I was just going by the example that you posted and it looks like that's what it is.
I'll go ahead and leave this one for Brian.

OK.. (Towermatt) I basically disable my "Recent Threads" module...
Go to news.. select the forum(s) I want it to take the first post from....
Select 0 in options so it displays the entire post...
And that's it?

OK.. got it to work.. had to change a few settings until it displays somehow like I want it...
Now I need to get a mod/hack that resizes the photos (under [img] BBCode) so the photos looks organized and same size in the posts, and news CMPS.
Any suggestions?

That's it, and the post you point it at is exactly what you see so it needs to be graphically cool
I use a text wrap BBCODE to get the text around the image.
The image size is something you can find a hack for or you could just establish a size that you want and put the pics in that way. I like them looking different, being different sizes and having different positions on the middle column
